Discover slick, new features and tricks, and tried and true time-saving methods in our longest-running workshop.
Ever get a text dump of a model from someone, but they forgot to send you the extents or rotation? Even worse: it’s too large to open in Excel! Learn how you can easily determine the extents, or quickly load and visualize the centroids using a point cloud. Think you know your way around MineSight’s Data Manager? Did you know there is a short cut to set the Open Edit Object or one to sort by date? Work with AutoCAD? Discover the life-changing magic of opening DXFs in your project without importing them! Planning and Operation Integration

Mining is just one of many industries depending on greater accuracy in its processes, which is why LiDAR and photogrammetry technology is in demand. Many mining sectors are adapting to the collection and processing of real-time LiDAR data for geomechanical modeling, mine planning and operations, and environmental studies. Point cloud technology is at the forefront of innovation and change for Hexagon Mining. Our solutions include both hardware and software technology, with products to collect, process, and visualize data.
The workshop will cover how this technology is being integrated to achieve the accuracy increasingly demanded by mines; specifically, the ability to integrate LiDAR datatypes, such as LAS files, Leica GeoMoS, and general DXF/DWG data with a MineSight 3D planning project, to design and analyze datatypes in a single interface. The integration of our fleet management, georadar and 3D reshaper solutions will be presented.
Geologic Modeling Workflow

Our new MineSight mine planning tools make modeling your deposit a whole lot easier. This workshop will review a typical methodology for modeling a deposit, from managing your drillhole database through to interpolating your model. Using MineSight’s new Geologic tool to create an airtight geologic solid model, Sigma for statistics, and Logic to demonstrate the new ease of multi-runs, this workshop will demonstrate workflow improvements. We will highlight the main steps of a geostatistical study, go over model coding and calculations, interpolation techniques, model validation, and resource reporting.
Using Geologic, we will demonstrate how geologic events can be not only created, but also how to quickly and efficiently adjust the geological sequence of events using the timeline function.
Efficient mine plans start with a precise geological model. A productive modeling workflow not only saves time and money, but allows for ease with updating and validating the model with new information. Easier updating means less time spent updating the model and in turn the updated model can be passed along to the planning department with the most accurate data as fast as possible. The workflow to be covered in this workshop is one of many ways to streamline geomodeling while using some of our newer tools.
We will take you from collecting and validating drillhole data using MineSight Torque through to geostatistical analysis with Sigma, building air-tight geological solids in a structured timeline with Geologic, model coding, interpolation and classification, and finally model validation and resource reporting.
A streamlined geomodeling workflow will save you time and spare you frustration. No one workflow will work with every type of deposit, but a general workflow and effective tools will help keep you on track. From assembling and validating the drillhole data, to performing the geological interpretation, grade interpolation, and model validation, all the steps should flow. Whether on drillhole or model data, validation and statistical analysis catch mistakes early and save time and money later.
Mine Planning Workflow

Mine planning engineers will always rely on a strategic mine planning system to profitably extract and maximize the value from a mineral resource. The maximization of the value can be realized based on several assumptions, which may require them to perform the tasks repetitively. These tasks can range from a quick preliminary design to a detailed design and schedule. Reporting is continually refined and perfected by adding engineering constraints and scheduling alternatives, such as sequence of extraction, equipment requirements, material routing, cut-off grade determination, etc.
This presentation will cover the MineSight mine planning suite of long-term and short-term planning tools and discuss their application toward achieving the tasks above, using a real data set. We’ll explore long-term planning tools for pit optimization and cutoff grade determination, the pit expansion tool for pit designs, minable resource calculations and detailed design and scheduling.
We’ll also discuss short-term planning tools for detailed day-to-day short-term plans. Leveraging these powerful solutions, we will show how a mine plan can be developed, refined, and put into place in an optimized workflow that will save you time and effort.
Data Workflow Implementation and Management
The mining industry has dramatically increased the amount of data that is being captured through fleet management and automated data collection systems. This data can be overwhelmingly difficult to incorporate into daily operations and decision making. The most common issues surrounding data usage stem from lack of focus on the data and reporting that is critical for day-to-day operations versus what convenience. So, how do you really focus on what is important and filter out the noise in the substantial amount data available to you? How do you get the most value from your reporting systems?
Our workshop will provide practical knowledge of the techniques involved in implementing and managing operations data into daily reporting and decision-making with an emphasis on KPIs, data collection points, and processes. This workshop will include presentations using real examples with theoretical alternatives, discussing their pros and cons.
Fleet Management Administration and Optimization
With all the features of a modern fleet management system (FMS), where do you begin with adapting site practices to best utilize your Hexagon FMS? What are the full benefits of high-precision equipment? Our workshop will cover the questions that arise during project implementation and support of a Hexagon FMS. How do you take advantage of the near-instant access to operations data? What KPIs are better for certain situations? How configurable is your Hexagon FMS? What features have you always wanted to use but needed more insight?
We will cover the overall basic administration and configuration options of the Hexagon FMS, optimization usage, major features, and product roadmap. This will include presentations on best practices, change management and discussions of real-world issues and solutions.
